Our Wedding Day

There will be several intimate family gatherings on the wedding day, including the exchanging of vows in Garrapata State Park.

The Venue

Sophie and Nicky will exchange vows at Garrapata State Park, along the Soberanes Point Trail — a gem on the Big Sur coast. The spot overlooks rugged cliffs, sea-carved rocks, and wildflowers. It’s a place where the coastline feels untouched, dramatic, and deeply peaceful.

The ceremony will be short and intimate, a standing gathering surrounded by close family and the natural beauty of the ocean. The trailhead is about 15-20 minutes south of Carmel-by-the-Sea, just off Highway 1. Please note that cell service is extremely limited, and parking is minimal, so guests are encouraged to plan ahead and take in the scenic drive along the coast.

Once Upon a Time

HOW THEY MET

It all began at Nicky’s 20th birthday party in San Luis Obispo. Sophie was visiting her high school friends — who happened to be Nicky’s roommates — when she met the birthday boy himself, wearing a panda tank top, grass hula skirt, a fedora, and sunglasses (a strong first impression!). Sparks flew instantly, and by the end of the night, they shared their first kiss… before it was hilariously interrupted by Nicky’s twin sister, Katie.

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

Three years later, fate brought them back together when Nicky packed his bags and made the move to San Diego. It didn’t take long for the two to reconnect, fall for each other, and start making memories that would take them around the world. From scuba diving in Belize, to exploring Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, Ireland, Portugal, England, New York, Maine, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona (just to name a few!), their adventures big and small became the heartbeat of their relationship.

MAKING A HOME

Before long, Nicky found the perfect little beach bungalow in Ocean Beach, CA — and it wasn’t long before Sophie (and her cat, Karma) joined him. Even before they had a couch, Nicky brought home their first dog, Goose, and soon after, their second pup, Teddy. Between house projects, beach walks, and countless cozy evenings, the two built not just a home, but a life filled with love, laughter, and a few too many sandy paw prints.

THE PROPOSAL

In true Nicky fashion, he had a plan — a surprise trip to San José del Cabo. On their first morning, he woke Sophie up at 5:00 a.m. to watch the sunrise over the ocean. As the sky turned golden, Nicky got down on one knee and asked Sophie to marry him. She said “Of course!” — followed by an ecstatic happy dance and a sunrise surf session to celebrate.

“When mom and dad told me they were getting married, I wagged so hard I almost fell over! I’m just happy my family’s finally making it official. I LOVE love. And, also yummy treats.” ~ TEDDY

“I don’t know why they need a big day to celebrate — I’ve been celebrating them every morning by sitting in increasingly weird positions and staring lovingly until they feed me.” ~ GOOSE

The Details

Cocktail attire.

Men: Suit and dress shoes — no tie needed, but bring a jacket for warmth.

Women: A mid-length (or longer) cocktail dress. The ceremony will be on a trail, so choose comfortable shoes and bring a shawl or wrap in case it gets chilly.

Expect mild coastal weather — around the low 60s near sunset. We’re hoping for sunshine, but since it’s the coast, pack layers and keep an eye on the forecast!

No transportation will be provided. We encourage guests to carpool and coordinate rides to Garrapata State Park for the ceremony.

We’ll be staying in Carmel-by-the-Sea, which is the most convenient location to the ceremony (about 15–20 minutes to Garrapata State Park). Our dinner will also take place in Carmel. Nearby areas like Monterey are also great options — just expect a slightly longer drive.

Gifts are not expected — your presence truly means the most to us. If you’d still like to give something, we have a small registry at Macy’s and an option to contribute to our honeymoon fund.
